Support The Supporters

14 July 2010

Support the supporters is an old saying, with a simple but important meaning. Your favorite pros, your favorite videos, competitions, events, anything you love about skating, is made possible by the companies that sponsor these things. They can afford to do this because of skaters like you who buy their products. So support the companies that support the things you love about skating. Buy from the companies that give back to skating and not just profit from it.

For the upcoming event at Corning Park there have been a number of supporters generous enough to donate prizes. The local shops however, Skiers Edge and The Vienna Bicycle Shop, who stand to profit the most off of you and the skate plaza being built, don’t support it at all. So be sure to make all your skating related purchases online.

But anyways, I haven’t heard back from the others at the foundation yet who have been talking to businesses as well, but so far Danny’s Pizza in Belpre has donated a hand full of free lunch coupons. If you haven’t eaten there before you definitely should.

Redbull is suppose to stop by and hand out free drinks, but I’ve known them to flake on other events I’ve been to, so we will see. I know it is mostly just skate boarders in Parkersburg any more, but ONE Magazine is giving a year subscription to the 1st, 2nd, and third place winners.

Rollerwarehouse Skate Shop in California just sent me a large prize box with a bunch of skate videos, tee shirts, and dog tags.

Another California skate shop, Aggressive Mall, sent a prize package with some skate videos and crap load of stickers.

Katie Petrish is also donating a deck out of her own money, how cool is that? Make sure you thank her for her support when you see her this Saturday.

If any of you know of some reputable skate board shops, I would be glad to email them the info and see if we can’t get some prizes from them as well.

Uhh yeahh, I actually have my own skate shop that supports… me. And uhh.. I guess I can afford to donate a handshake to whichever lowlife daang skateboarder wins first place. Not those second and third place winners though! If You Ain’t FIRST, you’re LAST!!! WOOO! Oh, and I’ll sign this.

Hahah but for real, you might try Pawnshop in Charleston, or Flipside based out of Athens.

Damn man, I didn’t know The Bike shop wasn’t in it for us. That sucks, I mean I can’t order anything online but I can afford some boards from The Bike Shop, what’s the problem with them are they nuts?

I’m not sure if they’re up and running yet, but there is a board company/shop getting ready to pop itself up here in Parkersburg. People might be able to get some stuff from them soon!!!
