Tie Dye Shirts Update

28 January 2011

The wait is over, the tie dye shirts are finally ready for sale. Since we are so small and Parkersburg is so small, we are still selling them old school out the back of our cars, so if you want one just leave a comment here, message us on Facebook, or email us at info@parkesburgskateplaza.org and we will meet you somewhere and you can pick out the shirt that you like. The tie dye shirts are $20 each, we also did small runs of plain white shirts with solid black logos, and plain black shirts with solid white logos that are just $10 each.

Short Car Wash Report

30 June 2010

I finally figured out the editing settings to work with the footage from my new camera, so even though it is a month or two late, here is a short video from our first car wash of the year, with a few responses to the $100,000 grant we had just been awarded.

Word Back On The Land and Water Conservation Grant

19 May 2010

We finally got word back on our $100,000 application for the Federal Land and Water Conservation Grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior, and it’s a go! This puts us up to $290,000 and we will begin interviewing skate park contractors over the next few months. If everything goes well we could have the facility finished as early as fall 2010.
If you are a contractor with skate plaza experience and would like to apply for the job, please contact Parkersburg Development Director, Ann Conageski, at conagesk@netassoc.net and she will …

Belk Discount Cards

15 April 2010

If you weren’t able to make it to our meeting tonight, we went over several new fund raisers. One of which is another department store discount card, sale, thing, I’m not even sure how to say it. We sell the cards for $5 each and get to keep all $5, which is great. The person who buys the card then can get up to 70% off on items at Belk. So if you would like to buy one, let us know. If you would like to help us sell them, …

Sponsors List

14 February 2010

At our last meeting with the Downtown Development Task Force, Chad Mildren presented a complete list of sponsors and their donations. I thought I would post them here to show our appreciation and remind all of the skaters that there actually are people out there that care and want to help. So the next time you run into any of these individuals or organizations, make sure to thank them and show your respect.

McDonough Foundation – $50,000
State of WV (Donna Boley) – $42,500
Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal – $15,00

Yes, We’re Still Alive!

28 January 2010

Winter is always a dead time for us, but we don’t go any where. Construction is scheduled to proceed as vaguely planned, sometime late spring when the weather is starting to consistently be nice. We also have to wait to hear back from one last large possible contribution. Last week we put our $100,000 application in for the Land and Water Conservation Grant. It is a federal Grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior which is managed by the state of West Virginia. There is no definite time line …

Fund Raising Lookback

18 November 2009

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have been able to bring in a little bit more money through our last few fund raisers, never at the increasing rate we would like, but steady non the less. From our CiCi’s Pizza benefit night last month we brought in $96.27, selling Magical Night of Giving tickets for the Grand Central Mall we were able to bring in $85, and from our CiCis benefit night Tuesday, I haven’t received the final number yet from Katie, but it was just under …

Some New Numbers

16 September 2009

Thank you everyone who showed up for our CiCi’s Benefit Night. We got nothing but positive feedback from the many people who came and went last night and were more than willing to leave us a tip. With tips alone we were able to raise $155.25, and with the percentage of their receipts CiCi’s was donating we brought in $48.53, together totaling $203.78. Roy Collins, with the help of Joe Petrish, just cashed in our heaping pile of cans at the recycling center and was able to bring in …

Mike Reaser, Justin Tribett, and myself sessioned Justin’s little practice rails today and I was able to catch a few photos. I also wanted to let everyone know that we were able to raise $216 at this Sunday’s car wash. Thanks to everyone who helped out or stopped to have their car washed, we always appreciate it.

CiCi’s Benefit Night

27 August 2009

We will be having another benefit dinner:
Tuesday, September 15th, from 5:00-8:00pm at CiCi’s Pizza
No flyers are necessary this time, but we do need some helpers to come down to talk to people about our foundation, our goals, and skating in general. If they like what they hear, they can drop their receipts off in a can and a portion of their bill will go towards the skate park.
Our next public meeting will be:
Tuesday, September 1st, at 7:30pm at the City Building
We also have another car wash scheduled for:
Sunday, September …
